ABOUT THIS:
I started this project back in April after a long battle with COVID. There were points where I accepted my own death, hoping not to spread it to other members of the household, yet I made it through...
A lingering feeling haunted me... the dreams from the third night.. the weakness and lingering cough combined with the weeks of seclusion... I didnt feel quite the same anymore..
Yet, I noticed I had a desire to return to music, so that I did, and it gave me something.. some form of hope, or at least a purpose.
These tracks were mainly compiled by old notebooks I had written in between 2015 - 2018, with edits and additions this year as the instruments and textures all came together. No track is the same with hints of folk, ambient, blues, black metal and ritual music all melding into the gloomy atmosphere of the Heretic's world.
This track, "(wontbelong...chapter 1)" was the first I started on , from here the rest of "Heretic & Thief" came together and was completed in late November of 2020. With each track will be an accompanying chapter from the tale being told on the project, three videos/surrealist shorts(including this one) are planning to be released as well. The full project will be released on December 16th, the first two chapters in our journey... Thanks for listening...
TRANSCRIPT:
Scene 2:
Upon arrival at his concrete cell, deep in the labyrinth of MONOLITH (the "sea city of slaves"), the Heretic refused to eat or drink. After a week of this he started to enter an oracle state of mind, one where you walk with one foot in our reality and another in the realms beyond, constantly flashing memories from the current and multiple futures. The first great vision he saw was one he knew too well: that of the plague reaching across the land, tendrils deep into society and mind, reducing all to shreds of their prior existence. This was followed by war and desolation, which would ultimately lead to the devolution of society as a whole. The vision flooded his veins boiling, over into his mind, body and soul until he could contain it no more.
He let out a primal yell, sat up from his spot on the ground and began to cough deep from his chest. It was shaking his whole frame every time he coughed. "Something had to be coming up?" he thought.
Blood began to pour from his mouth, he gagged, more blood and then something metallic. Or wait? Was it liquid? The now growing silver mass shot its tendrils across the cell, meeting the waiting eye sockets of the oncoming prison guards. Their screams were unlike anything the Heretic had heard, a strange chorus yet ravenous for something unmusical in nature.
A bright flash blinded him, then everything went black..
He awoke to the smell of his own burning flesh, boiling water poured onto his bound arms. His eyes panned up to his captor, unable to focus through the steam coming off his now raw, open skin. A glimmer of gold and amethyst spectacles made their way through to his vision, his jaw clenched before speaking.
"If that's you Doctor I can't be fixed. The things I'VE SEEN, are unchangeable, if I could stop them I would."
A soft hum began as a blue light surrounded the Heretic's head, for a second he mistook it for a halo.
"Have I died then?" he whispered into the seeming abyss of death's warm expanse.
"Oh, no my child," the Doctor's pitched voice warbled off the floor. The Heretic closed his eyes, whispering a prayer to something as the humming increased.
"We've only just begun"
